Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival dates announced

There will be fireworks, drone shows, exhibitions, events and popular markets to explore

The Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, held in the Al Wathba region of Abu Dhabi celebrates the culture of the UAE. In honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival offers valuable insights into the legacy of the nation’s founder.

This year, the festival will run from November 18, 2022 to March 18, 2023 – under the slogan “UAE: Uniting Civilizations”. The four-month-long Sheikh Zayed Festival 2022-23 featuring more than 4,000 events and weekly fireworks as well as parades, fountain show, drone show, crafts and other traditional performing arts.

The new edition of the Festival will include the Union Parade, National Day celebrations, New Year’s celebrations, as well as Global Parade, Al Wathba Custom Show and other events that are sure to please all family members.

The central attraction of the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival is the United Arab Emirates Heritage District, which hosts exhibitions and popular markets. The district houses a unique art gallery featuring the journey of the UAE over the past 51 years.

The Festival has allocated pavilions, exhibitions and traditional neighbourhood zones to showcase the UAE’s civilisation and various aspects of its culture and heritage. Each zone features events, traditional markets, live examples of traditional Emirati handicrafts that demonstrate the tools used in the past, interactive presentations and multiple workshops on local agricultural products and livestock in the UAE.

For the fun side of the festival, there will be record-breaking fireworks (which lasted for 40 minutes last year and set three Guinness World Records), drone show, the ice rink, camel races, falconry shows,  theatrical central Emirates Fountain plaza, and dining adventures from over 50 restaurants and food trucks serving snacks from around the world.

For the little ones, there’s a dedicated educational and entertainment district that welcomes children to enjoy cultural, educational and fun performances and engaging activities from the children’s circus, laser and lights shows, storyteller shows, kids magician, karaoke parties, princess and superhero shows, balloon modelling, face painting and other events.

There will be over 4,000 international cultural events, more than 750 public performances, and major celebratory events, as well as more than 130 workshops for children.

The World Heritage District is another highlight, showcasing the architectural heritage, crafts, products and traditional arts of other countries.

The most popular event at the festival is the Arabian horse show, a parade that showcases the beauty and grace of purebred Arabian horses.

Visitors to the Festival can encounter a unique experience at the Miracle Garden, which gives families and visitors the opportunity to take a walk amongst an impressive collection of famous buildings and illusion structures all covered in thousands of different flowers.
