This year, our spotlight shines on Dubai’s treasured photographic pair, Musthafa Aboobacker and his wife Haseena Musthafa, whose creative journey through the lens has garnered them widespread acclaim. Their dedication to their craft has been recognized with the prestigious Golden Visa in the UAE.

Meet Musthafa Aboobacker, an award-winning independent cinematographer, photographer, and educator. In a world where pixels turn into stories, Musthafa Aboobacker stands as a remarkable figure. Over a span of more than ten years, he has meticulously crafted advertisement commercials, directed short films, and orchestrated music videos across the UAE. His artistic voyage has known no boundaries, gracing local festivals, global stages, and the screens of YouTube enthusiasts worldwide. With a portfolio boasting more than 20 million views on YouTube, Musthafa has garnered recognition for his unique storytelling perspective, contributing to the global visual narrative.

Yet, his story is more than accolades and pixels; it’s a testimony to the magic of pursuing one’s passions. Having worked in the IT sector at Accenture, he discovered that his true passion resided elsewhere – behind the lens. Fueled by an unquenchable thirst for creative expression and a desire to weave visual narratives, he made the courageous choice to bid farewell to his corporate life. His decision to pursue his dreams was a leap of faith, one that propelled him into uncharted territories of self-discovery through photography.

Musthafa has earned the distinction of being the Official Photographer of the “Oldest Pearl in the World,” displaying his mastery in capturing historical treasures through his lens. Musthafa’s creative prowess also extends to the realm of fine art, as he assumed the role of the Official Photographer for the UAE Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Notably, he holds the esteemed position of an Approved Photographer at the Louvre Abu Dhabi for Art Documentation. Currently, Musthafa’s lens is focused on a documentary project centered around the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, a testament to his ability to capture the essence of architectural marvels through his art.
