September is here, and you might be surprised at how quickly it came. But guess what? There’s a long weekend ahead!
When is the next public holiday in the UAE?
The next long weekend in the UAE is in honor of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, known as Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi.
The Prophet’s birthday (PBUH) is observed on 12 Rabi’ Al-Awwal 1444 which translates to Friday, September 29, 2023. For those with the typical Saturday-Sunday weekend, this translates into an extended three-day break.
However, it’s important to note that, as usual, we will need to await the official announcement from the UAE authorities. Historically, this announcement is made approximately a week before the holiday date, and we will promptly share the news once we receive confirmation.

But this is the best part..
Following this, we can look forward to another extended weekend in December 2023.
Commemoration Day, formerly known as Martyrs’ Day, is observed every year on December 1, which happens to fall on a Friday in 2023. Right after that, the UAE celebrates National Day on December 2 and 3, a Saturday and Sunday, making it a splendid three-day weekend to wrap up the year.
Afterward, the next public holiday won’t be too far off, as we kick off the New Year with a public holiday on January 1. This New Year’s Day falls on a Monday, once again granting us a delightful three-day weekend.
